THE ANGLE OF MERCY

by Craig Gustafson

At a ritzy Hollywood party in 1947, Eric wants to advance from writer to producer, Ruth wants to leave Cliff for not coming to her defense when a gangster hit on her, a highly intelligent Iila is weary of being underestimated because of her bra size, Charlie wants to stop a movie from being made that parallels his connection with the mob & Hollywood unions, and all are thoroughly steam rolled by studio head/bully Frank Staerkel, the party’s host. There is only one person who can help them all – Eric’s wife Mary Ryan, the Angle of Mercy. Mary is highly logical, but while most people are on board the Twentieth Century Limited, Mary’s train of logic runs through Anaheim, Azusa and Cucamonga.
