GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN

by Jill A. Ripa

Taken from WP Duckett’s memoir of settling Texas after the civil war, this play focuses on the experiences of the women in the story, giving us an account of their experiences and challenges, especially through WP’s wife, Eliza’s lens. She finds out that she and the other women are more than what they seem when the men in their settlement leave to explore more of Texas. Eliza struggles to be the woman she is expected to be in this era, and she gains strength through failures, triumphs, and the powerful bonds of sisterhood.
