LATE LEARNING is the story of Muriel, an illiterate woman who is trapped by her adult children in her own home. Determined to finally change her situation, she escapes to the library when hearing about a free program teaching reading and writing. With literacy threatening their status, her son and daughter continue to lock Muriel up, and threaten Shaina, the volunteer, who works educating Muriel.

About the Playwright

Marj O’Neill-Butler, a resident of Miami Beach, Florida, is the Southern Regional Rep for the Dramatists Guild – Florida Region. She is also a member of the New Play Exchange, Honor Roll, and the International Center for Women Playwrights. Her work has been seen in 37 states, the District of Columbia, Canada, Great Britain, Scotland, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Australia, India and S. Korea. She has had 71 different plays produced in multiple theatresnumerous readings and of course, many rejections. A published playwright and mother of two grown sons, Marj is a proud member of the Dramatists Guild, Actors Equity, and SAG-AFTRA.
