MAP OF T/ERROR
by Dr. Catalina Florina Florescu
Connected by THE GHOST OF A HISTORY TEACHER, two pairs of characters, two teens and their respective grandfathers, from two geographically distinct places, Romania and the United States, have a chance to break all walls and look at the map of the world via theatrical devices and chance encounters. If THE GHOST OF A HISTORY were to die rather than continue to carry on her shoulder so much weight, burdens, dead bodies, destruction, and empty promises, would we accept her gesture as a scapegoat’s/sacrificial and learn to live more responsibly? LOST and FOUND, two other characters, step in to play their role in (our) history. In the end, it is less about who conquers whom, who dominates over which lands, as it is more about understanding viscerally the traumatic pains history inflicts on us. Then, history is anything but a textbook. History is live performance; actors, surgeons; and audiences, messengers of worlds too long awaited. Shall we exit this theater now? Shall we be using the front or back door? Shall we be fleeing away from historical dangers, or shall we be correcting long overdue t/ERRORS?
