PIGEON LADY: FOUND IN NEW YORK

by Grizzly K. Sunshine

Pigeon Lady: Found in New York delves into the tumultuous life of Bernie Davenport, a mentally unstable homeless woman living in 1984 New York City. Driven by delusions and a desperate desire to reunite her fractured family, Bernie creates an innovative umbrella business from nothing but recycled materials, believing it will bring her estranged daughter, Clara, back from Ireland. Along the way, drag queens and purple pigeons become unlikely allies. Inspired by Brenda Fricker’s beloved character in Home Alone 2, this play’s poignant end explores mental illness, family, and the courage to follow the star in your own heart…even if it means sacrificing everything for your dream.
