STAR-CROSSED: A MIDSUMMER NIGHTMARE

by Stephanie Garrison and Andrea Watson

In Athens, entanglements abound. The duke prepares to wed his war prisoner, Hippolyta, queen of the Amazons. Romeo, engaged to Hermia, is pursued by the relentless Juliet, who is convinced that she is destined to be with Romeo. Hermia, however, has already given her heart to Helena. The lovers seek refuge in a nearby forest, which is the domain of the fairies, pursued by Tybalt, determined to make Romeo answer for wronging Juliet. Oberon, king of the Fairies, driven mad by jealousy of his queen, Titania, devises a fitting punishment for her alleged infidelities. Mortals and fairies are swept up in the chaotic web spun by Mercutio, a mischievous puck who lives for nothing but a bit of sport at the expense of the unwitting.
