In The Part of Me, Diana, a pansexual bipolar woman, breaks up with her girlfriend, embarking on a search for a new partner, a search made more difficult by her budding mental illness. This expressionist tale is a comic exploration of mental illness and sexuality through the lens of a woman who, while looking for the perfect partner, finds herself.

About the Playwright

Kyle A. Smith is an agender and disabled playwright and dramaturg whose work has been seen and developed at Queens Theatre, T.H.I.N.K. at The Tank, Fresh Binder Productions, UCNJ, Adelphi University, Kansas University, Outtabounds Productions, No Frills Theatre, Transformation Theatre, and more. They were the recipient of the Tisch School of the Arts Fellowship at NYU; have been an honorable mention for B Street Comedies Festival and Rise Against Fanaticism Through The Arts Prize, have been a Finalist for the O’Neill Theatre Conference and Dramatists Guild Fellowship; a Semi-Finalist for Shakespeare’s New Contemporaries and the Baltic Writers’ Residency, and shortlisted for Wild Imaginings New Epiphanies Festival among others. Her play The Part of Me received its world premiere with Madlab Theatre in March 2020, days before the world shut down.
