About the Playwright
Rodney Ross lives, writes and sweats in Palm Springs, California. ‘Things To Aim For’, a short story collection, was a 2025 Finalist in the Reader’s Choice Awards from the Chrysalis Brew Project. His debut novel ‘The Cool Part of His Pillow’, now in its 2nd edition, was the 1st Place Winner in both the NIEA and the Next Generation Indie Book Awards; a Global EBook Silver Medalist; and Honorable Mention in the Rainbow Book Awards. His second novel, ‘Diversionary Fires’, was a National Indie Excellence Awards (NIEA) Finalist and an Honorable Mention in the Southern California Book Festival.
Forthcoming works include an original play ‘XXX, Mom’ and his third novel ‘The Lives I Didn’t Lead’. Recent achievements include a Semi-Finalist citation in the 2025 Laboratory Theatre of Florida New Play competition. Past screenplays earned Honorable Mentions or runner-up citations in the Monterey County Film Commission, FADE-IN and the LGBT One-In-Ten Screenwriting competitions. Rodney was also cited as ‘Most Creative’ in the Key West Mystery Fest Writing Competition.
